Judith R. ~ San Antonio, Texas Basic Training
(Sat) 5 May 73
Dear Chris,
I thought I'd write you a letter to tell you that as you have heard anything at all about basic training, believe it. Other than that I don't know what to tell you.
We've marched everywhere we go. We're told what to do, where to do it and when to do it. As a matter of fact you don't have time to go to the bathroom. The TI says you can go any time but you don't for fear you'll miss something.
My flight has lib this weekend. Today so far I have pulled two hours dorm guard, mopped, waxed and buffed my bedroom floor, ironed and help mop up water in the baement. Sounds like a good way to spend Saturday afternoon right. My sister flight has been restricted so they are in the day room practicing their facing movements (right face, left face, about face).
Really though, when we have base lib there are things to do. We have a club, a bowling alley, movies, a skating rin, a swimming pool (which isn't open). Then there's just the joy of being able to walk anywhere on base without you TI counting cadence.
We found out that one of our TI's (we have two) is about the same age as I am. You wouldn't know it by the way she yells at us though.
But Monday begins my third week so maybe things will get better.
I've got to go now. So here's your chance to write.
Love,
Judy
