Dear Harry, Monday, Nov. 8, 1943

I must see what I can do about your letter of Oct. 4. Mail isn’t very fast especially when not sent air mail. Tell your mother I’ll take her up when I receive said furlough.

Glad all is well at home. I can say the same for my dad & Virginia. I can’t say the same for myself. I have been in the hospital for a month and I hope I’ll get beter soon.

Why yes I caught Alaskan salmon and some trout. But the salmon only run about a month so you can’t fish them for long. I played golf but only one summer in Seattle.

The guy in bed next to me is writing a letter giving me some trouble. It seems that he thinks my girlfriend is not much to look at.
