Leonard Tomaszewski ~ Harz Mountains

Part of the trek of Leonard was into Germany, around the time of V-E Day. Leonard was in Germany April & May 1945. He talked to me about the beautiful Harz Mountains & a school he was at, taking care of officers & also a mechanic on army vehicles.

Part of Germany's V-Rocket program was in mountains near the Harz Mountains. I don't know if Leonard was involved in any treks toward this area?

What I do know is that many of Germany's space program scientists and captured rockets helped build America's NASA space program enabling us to be the only country to fullfil the vison of President Kennedy and land us on the moon in 1969.

This website started as a living story of my uncle's service in World War II. I found some 200 plus letters in my late uncle's office he used to run his business after the war, and during his retirement. It was in 2008 that I asked my father (deceased last November 2011) if I could have the letters and look at. In the last eleven years I have painstakingly read, organized and put up this website, that I am proud of.
